Queen of Angels and Celebration Song Iris Rhizomes Available at Shalom Gift Shop
Starting in July and continuing until the end of October, Board of Directors of Shalom Prayer Center, courtesy of the Schreiner’s Iris Gardens (3625 Quinaby Rd. NE, Salem, OR 97303; phone 503 393-3232) are pleased to present for sale the Queen of Angels iris, in honor of the Benedictine Sisters’ 125th anniversary and Celebration Song iris, in honor of the 35th anniversary of Shalom Prayer Center.
Queen of Angels
A hint of lavender adorns this vigorous immaculate Tall Bearded white Iris. Lacy frills edge the petals. Each 36-inch stem presents 3 to 4 branches and 10 to 11 buds. This elegant iris was introduced in 1995 by Schreiner’s Iris Gardens. It was named by Leonard Schmidt of Mt Angel, who thought it was a perfect Iris to name in honor of the Queen of Angels Monastery in Mt. Angel, OR. The Queen of Angels iris received an Honorable Mention in 1997 from the American Iris Society and an Award of Merit in 1999. It has also received wide acclaim internationally.
Celebration Song
Celebration Song has won the American Iris Society Dykes Medal in 2003. This medal is the highest honor of Irisdom, where only one iris can win this top award per year. Celebration Song is the perfect choice for marking an anniversary with its joyful pink bitone. Its zesty apricot pink standards nicely complement the Queen of Angels iris sold last year. Celebration Song produces strong stems with three to four branches and 9-12 buds.
You can purchase both of these iris beauties – Queen of Angels and Celebration Song – at the Shalom Gift Shop at 840 S. Main St., Mt. Angel, from July to the end of October. Price is $10 for each rhizome or 3 rhizomes for $25. Call 503-845-6773 or email shalom@mtangel.net for more information.
The Shalom Prayer Center Staff and Board of Directors extend a very special thanks to the Schreiner’s Iris Gardens for its generous gift of iris rhizomes in support of the ministry of Shalom Prayer Center.
